PRESS RELEASE – For Immediate Release

RELEASE AUTHORITY:  Mayor Bob Lambert

Subject:  Official Swearing in of Horseshoe Bay Police Officers

On March 1, 2006 at 8:00 a.m. Mayor Bob Lambert officially swore in all the officers of the Lake LBJ Municipal Utility District Police Department to their newly appointed status as officers of the City of Horseshoe Bay Police Department.

Speaking to the police officers, the Mayor said:

“I cannot emphasize enough how much you are respected and appreciated.  A lot of the credit goes to Chief Bill Lane, but he has received strong support from the District Board, other police officers and staff of the District.  I believe, if at all possible, the City Council will provide even more support for Chief Lane and each of you.”

Chief Lane stated “As our City grows, challenges and demands increase.  We will respond to these challenges and demands for the best interest to our citizens and we will be in a position to enforce all ordinances the City passes to provide protection and quality of life to our community.”

“Today is an important day for our community as we complete a smooth transition into a fully functional city” said Lambert.   “The Lake LBJ Municipal Utility District ends, and the City assumes all of its responsibilities.  The main change today is that the formal leadership is the City Council instead of the District Board.  I am pleased that the staff of the District is now the staff of the City, and I know they will continue to provide outstanding service.  I extend my congratulations to these fine officers and welcome them into the City.”
