PRESS RELEASE
HSB MAYOR AND COUNCIL - MOVING FORWARD
Mayor Lambert called the second regular City Council meeting to order at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 6, 2005. All members were present. The Mayor stated he is pleased with the Council’s progress and thanked them for their efforts.
A resolution was unanimously passed to change our name from the Village of Horseshoe Bay to the CITY OF HORSESHOE BAY. The consensus of the Council was that the majority of the community preferred “City.”
The next order of business was the passage of two resolutions recognizing Mr. Wayne Hurd and Mr. Norman Hurd for their dedication and vision in the development of Horseshoe Bay. (These resolutions are linked: Mr. Wayne Hurd; Mr. Norman Hurd.)
Don Wood enthusiastically moved to appoint Mrs. Toni Vanderburg as City Secretary. She has been an outstanding member of the MUD staff for 6 years.
The Council has engaged the services of Mr. Monte Akers as interim City Attorney. Mr. Akers and his firm have done extensive work for over thirty Texas cities (mostly small municipalities), including the City of Llano.
Karen Wines led the discussion on the proposed Hotel Occupancy Tax. The discussion will continue at the next meeting December 20, 2005.
Jim Babcock led the discussion on the creation of a Comprehensive Development Plan. This plan will be essential to the orderly growth of our City and a committee will soon be formed to begin the process.
The next order of business was the issue of changing plats. John Bird has been researching this process and will be laying out the plan at the December 20th meeting. The procedure used by the City will closely follow what the County has used for many years.
The Council adopted October 1 through September 30 as the fiscal year. Future Council elections will be held in November of each year.
After addressing twenty agenda items, Mayor Lambert adjourned the meeting at 6:00 p.m.
The Council continues to encourage citizen input and comments. Our next regular meeting will be December 20, 2005 at 3:00 p.m. at the MUD office.
Respectfully submitted
