Stan R. FarmerStan was born in Albuquerque, NM. He graduated from Douglas MacArthur High School in San Antonio in 1986 and received his Bachelor Degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 1991. His next stop was the US Marine Corps with duty stations in Camp Lejeune, NC; Okinawa, Japan; and New River Air Station, NC. Stan received his Masters of Public Administration (MPA) degree in 2001 from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. Stan has been a City Manager over six and a half years.
Mr. Farmer is the proud father of two wonderful teenage girls.
Office of the City Manager
Duties of the City Manager include:
Enforce all city ordinances, rules, and regulations.
Supervise all municipal employees and programs.
Prepare and execute the city's annual budget pursuant to the revenue and expenditure plans adopted by the council.
Manage the city's funds and prepare periodic reports that advise the council and the general public of the city's fiscal condition.
Provide information to the council to facilitate its ability to make informed decisions in the best interests of the city.
Prepare council meeting agendas and attend all such meetings to serve as a resource to the council and the public.
Draw the council's attention to city needs and recommend alternatives by which the council can respond to those needs.
The office of City Manager is an appointed position in which the individual selected serves at the pleasure of the Mayor and City Council.
