Lot Mowing
(Undeveloped Lots)
The deed restrictions in Horseshoe Bay require that owners keep their lots "trimmed and cut so that the same shall remain in a neat and attractive condition." Per the City's Health, Sanitation and Litter Ordinance ORD 09-06-16A and Section 3.3B(13) of the 4th Amendment to the HSB Declaration of Reservations tall grass and weeds are prohibited.
Owners have the option to manage their own lot mowing. However, as a service to owners living outside Horseshoe Bay the City has a lot mowing program in which vacant, undeveloped lots are mowed by a private contractor and the owner of the lot is billed by the City for the costs. Although the price may vary, the normal price for each lot mowing is $65. Undeveloped lots should all be mowed by August 1 and November 1 of each year. Each time a mowing is required, the City will offer the same service and charge the owner accordingly.
Lot Clearing
(Undeveloped Lots)
In addition, the City's Health, Sanitation, Trash, and Litter Ordinance ORD 09-06-16A states brush, underbrush, or other vegetation is prohibited that constitutes either a fire safety hazard or which may serve as a habitat for nuisance animals.
Owners have the option to clear their own lot. However, as a service to owners living outside Horseshoe Bay the City has a lot clearing program in which vacant, undeveloped lots are cleared by a private contractor and the owner is billed by the City for the costs. The costs for clearing a vacant lot can vary greatly depending on the amount of work that needs to be done. This cost has ranged from $250 to $1000 in the past 3 years with the vast majority of lots costing around $450 to clear. Clearing of a lot is something that only needs to be done once as long as the lot is mowed thereafter.
