Alderman Dick Rantzow

Dick Rantzow

Dick grew up in Dallas Texas and attended Southern Methodist University on a swimming scholarship.  He married his wife Susan in 1960 and graduated in 1961 with a business degree and a major in accounting. 

Following graduation he joined the accounting firm of Ernst & Ernst in the Dallas office and in 1972 became a partner.  In 1973 he transferred to the firm's national office to organize a national recruiting department.  In 1977 he transferred to the Memphis office as its managing partner.  Along with his professional responsibilities he was involved in several charitable organizations.  He served as Chairman of the 1985 Memphis United Way Campaign, President of Citizens for Equitable pensions, board member of Businessmen for a Greater Memphis and the Chamber of Commerce, Treasurer and Elder of Second Presbyterian Church as well as several others.

In 1991 he retired from Ernst & Young and purchased interest in a golf bag manufacturing company where he served as Director and Chief Financial Officer.  He also was elected Chairman of the Trustees of the First Funds family of Mutual funds.  In 1996 he bought a house in Horseshoe Bay and in 1998 when the golf bag business was liquidated he moved his residence to Horseshoe Bay.  He continues to be active in the Mutual fund industry serving as a Trustee for five closed end funds.
