Generally, a leak on your side of the property will result in the water meter gauge indicating active usage and is the responsibility of the homeowner. The City offers a leak alert program through Water Smart that will notify residents when a possible leak is detected and where residents can get detailed information about their household water use.

The customer’s meter shut off is on the customer’s side of the meter. It is a good idea to familiarize yourself and any residents of your household with it’s location in the event of a water emergency requiring you to shut off your water quickly.
If you need help locating your shut off please call the City Office, available 24/7, at 830-598-8741, and request assistance.
Plumbing code requires a customer owned and maintained shut off at every service location.

Your PRV is your Pressure Regulating Valve. The PRV lowers the water system pressure to a level that is deemed safe for household appliances by your plumbing contractor. The City of Horseshoe Bay has higher than typical water pressure due to the hilly terrain. Your PRV is usually located within a few feet of the water meter box on the customers side. It is the customer’s responsibility to maintain or replace your PRV. The exception would be is the PRV was installed before the city incorporated and the PRV is on the City’s side of the meter, if this is the case please call the City, Monday through Friday, 8am – 5pm, at 830-598-8741 and we will replace and relocate PRV at no charge to you.
