Attention, citizens!
A Red Flag Warning issued for the Hill Country is now in effect from 10 AM to 9 PM today, Friday, March 14. A Wind Advisory has been issued for the Hill Country from 10 AM to 7 PM today. A Fire Weather Watch issued for all of South-Central Texas, is now in effect from 10 AM to 9 PM Saturday, March 15.
The Horseshoe Bay Fire Department intends to have three brush trucks staffed both days.
Precautions to take:
- No hot work (welding or grinding).
- No open burning (excluding BBQs).
- Any BBQing should only be done on a non-combustible service with 10 feet of clearance around the BBQ.
- Keep a water supply near the BBQ.
- Do not BBQ indoors or in garages. If at all possible, do not BBQ at all tomorrow or Saturday.
- Properly dispose of smoking material (this is critical).
- Do not throw lit cigarettes out of car windows.
- Properly secure trailer chains.
- Mow only in the early morning, when humidity is higher and the wind is down.
- Do not park over dry vegetation.
- Catalytic converters are very hot and can ignite dry vegetation.
